Shack.Work - Simply Words in Making

Unfinished Chapters

I pulled a tiny, stringy hair, white and silver-like but long, out from between the keys on the board. Time, like a swift thief, passed, eclipsing my younger self who longs for our reunion. I did my utmost to remember every aspect of my life, scouring the depths for hints about past choices and feelings, each detail significant for my journey, holding valuable insights. Always find every story amusing, knowing the inevitable ending, yet sit there eagerly waiting for it to unfold. Should be doing something about it—anything. However, simply sat there, allowing time to pass by. Perhaps many of my memories do not reflect the ideal beauty I seek to find. The call teased me, like a siren’s voice leading sailors to dangerous shores, urging me to agree. Selfishly here, exchanging the life I once knew for one I have never experienced. They wouldn’t even recognize me; feel like a shadow of my former self. No turning back from this; a one-way ticket to somewhere unknown, and nowhere in particular. The dark cloud hovers above me; maybe there is more light and brightness above it all. My little finger reached the end of the keys, pressed the “ENTER” button, completing the task. See my past self on the screen, waiting in desperation once more. Heart raced, filled with regret, as I hesitated. Stared up at the virtual billboard flickering in midair, anticipating a new world where death was not the final destination. My story continues without an ending, a reflection of the unfinished chapters defining my existence. Yet, the loneliness persists throughout all this time.

“Endings are a strange thing. You know it’s coming, and yet, everything ends.” – Sugar (TV Series, 2024)
